We had a messy, unapologetic Brat Summer in 2024. Inspired by Charli XCX’s album, the internet spiralled into chaos and suddenly everything was brat lime green. Fast-forward to December, and in the lead-up to the premiere of Marty Supreme, A24 jumped on the colour-as-culture train—this time championing a bold Hardcore Orange, inspired by the humble table tennis ball.
Colour has always been a tool in cinema, used to signal mood, era or emotion. But A24 takes it a step further. With Marty Supreme, Hardcore Orange becomes what the studio calls a “visual viral loop”—a colour so distinct and omnipresent it lives far beyond the screen. Directed by Josh Safdie and set in the 1950s/60s, the choice is deliberate: orange historically symbolised youth, risk and raw energy, mirroring the film’s restless spirit.
Timothée Chalamet fully leaned into the chaos, embracing guerrilla marketing with unhinged stunts and head-to-toe orange looks. A24 isn’t interested in subtlety here—they want to be loud, hyper-visible, and to create a true cultural moment, not just a film release.
The studio’s reputation extends beyond cinema. A24 treats its online shop like a boutique, where film worlds spill into physical objects. Hardcore Orange isn’t just a poster colour—it’s a tangible collectible. Something you can own, wear, and fold into your everyday life, appealing to those who care as much about aesthetic cohesion as they do cinematic quality.
The Marty Supreme marketing strategy has definitely made us want to incorporate more orange into our lives—not just because we want to be “in”, but because it’s genuinely a great colour (and yes, the film really was that good).
